Evening 5 of the Festival of Lights

Happy Chanukah
Even though I have been participating in Hannukah for about a dozen years, I still feel like a novice.   Especially when left to my own devices.  My reference guide to "The Festival of Lights" is a tiny eighteen page book entitled:  "The Complete Guide to Hanukkah."  Did I mention this is a children's book?  All I can say is thank you, Susan Fischer Weis (the author) for writing something so concise that even a shiksa like me can handle Hannukah.

I lit the candles and did the Blessings in Hebrew (thanks to my handy little book). Fortunately, my kids are too young to realize how poor my pronunciation is.  After that, they each got to open a gift.

Indiana Jones for the DS.  I love that little boys are so into Indiana Jones.  Raiders of the Lost Ark was playing in movie theaters in 1981.  1981!  I was 11.

And here is the new "Princess and The Frog" costume.  We saw the movie last weekend.  I love that Tiana (the heroine) is a hardworking gal who dreams of opening her own restaurant.

Tiana is plucky, self-reliant AND beautiful.  Reminds me of my little Princess.

Tonight I am counting my blessings.  Happy Hannukah!
