St. Pat’s Magic Vases
St. Pat’s Magic Vases are a lovely way to celebrate spring!
What’s magic about this St. Pat’s Day Vases project? With 3 items (one of them free) and a tiny bit of time, you can transform jars destined for recycling into something lovely for your home.
Supplies: Mason Jars/Ball Jars (make sure they have a “smooth” side– no writing), Puffy Paint and Green Spray Paint. Some glass jar suggestions: ball/mason jars, jam, peanut butter and baby food jars.
Wash, clean and dry jars. “Draw” a simple design or word with Puffy Paint. A shamrock is easy to make– just draw 3 connecting hearts. Create a four leaf clover by drawing 4 connecting hearts.
Other fun “St. Pat’s” words… Luck or Lucky.
Let them dry. The Puffy Paint bottle recomments 4 hours but that’s meant for fabric. I let them dry overnight.
Spraypaint the bottles in a well-ventilated area. Use 4-5 light coats of paint, allowing each layer to completely dry. Pop some pretty (and inexpensive) flowers in and you have a lovely display or centerpiece for your home.

Malia, what a wonderful technique! The vases are the perfect complement to the tulips!

Very clever. I had done stickers on the interior of the jar and swirled paint around for Valentine’s idea. I like this idea better though. Cool stuff. Jodi @ http://www.meaningfulmama.com

So cute!

These are so much fun! I have seen a similar technique on Pinterest but with hot glue. Puffy paint would allow for much more precision and spray painting the outside means that you can actually use the jars/vases to hold things. I will definitely be trying this out!
Thanks for sharing!

So my kid of craft (in fact I have some wood grain/heart ones sitting here – the spray paint cracked when I sprayed it – too cold1). I love using old jars – best craft supply ever! These are so darn cute…LOVE the green!

Love it. For many holidays. Do the jars have to be glass? Most mayo, pb, etc are in plastic.
