MMM I love coffee… in anything! This Frosted Coffee Bar recipe is from my Grandma Millicent.
Today's Millicent and Malia Recipe: Frosted Coffee Bars
2 tsp. instant coffee
1/4 cup hot water
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 1/2 cup flour
1/2 tsp (each) baking powder, soda, cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup raisins
Dissolve instant coffee in hot water. Cream shortening and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add the coffee. Sift flour, baking powder, soda, cinnamon and salt into creamed mixture. Stir in nuts and raisins. Spread dough in greased pan.
Bake at 350 degrees about 15 minutes.
Ingredients for Frosting
While still warm, frost with:
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons cream
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
*sprinkle the top with chopped walnuts
