The other day my children and I received some magic in the mail: The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Available For The First Time on Blu-ray Combo Pack and HD Digital August 27th. The movie was meaningful to us on many levels. I remember watching this charming film myself when I was a little girl (in the movie theater) so it was really special to get the chance to cuddle up with my own children decades later and be enchanted by Winnie the Pooh and his friends once again.
My children, ages 10 and 7, really enjoyed stepping into the Hundred Acre Woods with Winnie the Pooh, Christopher Robin, Eyeore, Piglet, Rabbit, Tigger, Owl, Kanga and Roo. Childhood friendships are so important (and so sweet) and I found myself drifting back in time as I watched the film. Winnie the Pooh is so relatable to kids of all ages– he accidentally gets himself into all kinds of predicaments and needs his friends to give him a helping hand.
My family and I really enjoyed the “chapter” where Pooh goes to visit Rabbit then proceeds to eat all of Rabbit’s honey (or should I say huney) and then gets stuck as he tries to leave. There are great lessons about friendship, as Rabbit goes to get Christopher Robin and Eyeore to help. Days pass and no one is able to nudge poor Pooh through. But they make the best of the situation as Rabbit draw’s a funny face on Pooh’s…ahem… posterior. But it is the tiniest member of the group, Piglet, who finds the solution when he gives Pooh some honeysuckle, causing him to sneeze… and freeing him from being stuck!
I couldn’t help but remember my childhood. While we didn’t live in the Hundred Acre Woods, we did live by some “regular” woods that seemed enchanted to us neighborhood kids. Much like Winnie the Pooh and his friends, in the summertime, we would spend hours playing and pretending… getting into mischief and then getting out somehow. Those were wonderful times for me.
Those long-ago days helped me understand the meaning of friendship. I still carry those lessons in my heart today. Now as an adult, I realize how precious childhood is, and how the friendships you create stay with your forever. I hope my own children will look back on these days with fondness and remember the summer afternoon during which they and their mom got to visit Winnie the Pooh and learn a bit about the timelessness of friendship.
Experience the friendships, imagination and adventure of the Hundred Acre Woods when all of your favorite characters come alive in this timeless motion picture!

My girls loved Winnie the Pooh growing up. We had all the movies on VHS. We watched them so much that we wore out several. I think making friends as a child is easy, but it is really important to teach our kids how to grow that friendship. You may disagree as friends, but a true friend stays no matter what. I taught my girls that your husband should be your best friend who you share everything with and is there no matter what….even when you don’t agree with each other and you will…lol.
My girls are older now (19 & 16) and they feel sorry for kids growing up today that don’t use their imagination. They had so much fun building Barbie houses out of books and boxes, swimming pools out of big bowls with a big spoon for a slide; grocery stores, house, etc… Using their imagination, enables them to think beyond what is right in front of them and opens a new world of possibilities to them.
I’m glad you got to watch the movie with your kids and have a new memory for the Winnie The Pooh movie :)
Have a great day!!
