Like a Kid in a Candy Store
Look at these delicious colors. These are orphaned lids in the display case at Laguna Vintage Pottery. You can find a lid to match a much loved vintage piece and so much more at this store. Laguna offers discontinued American Vintage Pottery. Which means… you can start a collection, find a replacement piece or just pick up a beautiful part of American history here. Whether they're "worth" a few dollars or thousands… I think these pottery pieces are all treasures. (By the way, the prices do range that much). Join me over at Vintage Indie today where we're taking a little… Read More
Ingenious Ideas for Interiors
I saw some pretty creative things last week. This chandelier is made out of antlers and fishing tackle. Along with rolls of wrapping paper. And silverware. And many, many other things. This Shadow Box Table is filled with tiny interesting trinkets like dice, dominos — even nuts and bolts. And here's a "marble" chandelier made out of… marbles and a piece of car windshield glass. All these pieces in the restaurant/Barn at Blueberry Hills Farm were created by Kari Sorensen. Her family owns the farm. If you're ever near Manson, WA, it's well worth the quick trip to Blueberry Hills. The food… Read More
The Comeback
Photo by John Bailey Happy Weekend Peeps! Actually, I have been somewhere (at least physically) for the past week. Lake Chelan, in the gorgeous state of Washington to be exact. We've been eating, hanging with friends, napping, relaxing and swimming (What? I went in the pool once… that counts). I've also been doing a lot of pondering… about what's working for me and what isn't. I'm letting some of those things go with gratitude *pouf* there they go… and thanking them for what they've taught me. I'm making space to focus on the things I need/want to. It feels freeing. Anyway,… Read More

Yummy Wednesday: Eve’s Potato Salad
It's Yummy Wednesday… on Tuesday. This is my Mom (Eve's) Potato Salad Recipe. So delish! 3 large russet potatoes, boiled for an hour and diced (it will fall apart which is good for the creamy consistency) 6 hardboiled eggs, chopped fine 6 chopped green onions, while bulbs and green stalks 3 finely diced celery stalks Salt and pepper to taste Mayonnaise (I use my judgment here) The goal is a somewhat creamy texture Mix really well and refrigerate till ready to serve. Enjoy!
Personal Independence Icon
In celebration of Independence Day, I'd like to introduce you to a local icon who has chosen to shed his dependence on such formalities as wearing a shirt, pants or even shoes. He answers to "The Edmonds Beach Water Temperature-Taker Dude". And yes, I am serious. He struts around the town of Edmonds wearing simply his birthday suit and a pair of short shorts. My family and I ran into "The Dude" while enjoying the sunny weather this weekend. As he was testing the water temperature in Puget Sound (hint: it's always freezing cold) I struck up a conversation with… Read More
More Free 4th of July Graphics
I have a couple more treats to share: Thank you, Keren of Free Pretty Things For You. Keren is very generous in sharing her charming vintage graphics. I feel so inspired to create after "visiting" her. You must check out her blog is you haven't already. These frames would be very fun to personalize with some text for the Fourth of July. Keren's idea: Upload them into your Picnik account (it's free), and use the text tool to write in them. Or just print them out and handwrite something fabulous. Happy Independence Day, Peeps!
