Here's an easy way to whip up a cape for your Super Kid this summer. The best part– there's no sewing involved! Your two best friends for this project: Fabri-Tac and Heat 'n' Bond. You'll also need an adult sized t-shirt (either one of your old ones or something from a thrift store works great), an iron and whatever scrap fabric and embellishments you want to use up. For templates, I used a bowl and a felt star I happened to have. But cookie cutters would also make great templates. If you want to add a name to… Read More
Farm Chicks Finale
I have one final vendor to show you: The Rusty Bird Sadly, I didn't get to meet the artist Virginia Shawver, but I can tell you I loved her work! Beautiful bird themed items (including art work and nests) were tucked into every corner of the space. Our final stop on The Farm Chicks Finale is "The Man Cave". What an ingenious idea! If the guys who attended the show needed a place to hide I mean chill out, they could go to this beautifully designed space. It had ample seating and two giant big screen tv's. So this was what… Read More

More from the Chicks
Here are some more photos from The Farm Chicks Show last weekend in Spokane: From The Craft Barn From Hutch Studio Krys Kirkpatrick from Hutch Studio was one of the coolest people I met at the event. She and her sister started Bunnies By the Bay twenty four years ago. Already a super creative seamstress, Krys had a little *spark* within that said "Learn to Draw." So she did and a year later (yes only a year) she is a fantastic artist. Here's a little video interview I did with Krys:
From Tee Shirt to Home Decor
Do you ever feel sad when your kid outgrows a tee shirt you love? That's how I felt about this darling shirt from Target. I couldn't bring myself to give it away because it's just so dang cute. So I repurposed it into home decor. I started by cutting the birdie design out with pinking shears. To give the tee shirt material a bit more strength I traced my birdie design onto Heat'n'Bond Ultra Hold, cut it out, and and ironed it on, following the instructions on the package. Next I found some material that coordinated with it, pinned my… Read More
Fresh from the Farm Chicks
My Mom and I had the best time ever at this year's Farm Chicks Antique Show. The event was filled to the gills. Here's one of two lines to get in– after the show had already been open for an hour! As soon as we entered the event, we saw this amazing display. It's a giant "cake" made out of… well… I actually don't know but it was cool. It was there as an advertisement for a bakery named (you guessed it) "Cake" in neighboring Cheney. Here are some of the lovely sights I saw and the names of the… Read More

I'm a Guest Reporter for Vintage Indie and my assignment is to show the online magazine's readers my favorite finds. It's a dream job! To hold us over until then, here are some etsy finds: (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via) (via)
Yummy Wednesday: Coconut Cupcakes + French Fun
Pop on over to Le Chateau Des Fleurs for a themed French Linky party and a giveaway. Isa (aka Frenchy) is a a baker/crafter/writer extraordinaire– and she's French which makes her even cooler! Here's part of the giveaway: I made the Barefoot Contessa's Coconut Cupcakes for Book Club. My goal is to distract my fellow book club members from realizing I didn't read the book. Here's the deal– the last book that was chosen was "The Quickening Maze" by Adam Foulds. Basically, it's about a poet (who after years of struggling with neglect and depression) finds himself in an asylum. Can… Read More
