I woke up this morning to the most wonderful surprise. Pioneer Woman blogged about her recent visit to Seattle. And she linked to the blogs of people who stopped by to meet her at her book signing and blogged about it. O Pioneer Woman– I didn't think I could be any bigger of a fan. Thank you. Now I am connecting with my fellow PW lovers all over the world. To celebrate, I am going to do my B-I-G giveaway a little early. It's a copy of PW's beautiful new cookbook, personally signed by Pioneer Woman "To My Favorite Yesterday… Read More

Yummy Wednesday: Amy’s Apple Puffed Pancakes
This is a great weekend morning recipe. It comes from my dear friend Amy P. Ingredients: 6 eggs 1 1/2 cups milk 1 cup all-purpose flour 3 tablespoons sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla extract 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon 1/4 cup butter or margarine 2 apples peeled and thinly sliced (I leave the peel on) 2 to 3 tablespoons brown sugar Preheat oven to 425. In a blender or large bowl, mix eggs, milk, flour, sugar, vanilla, salt and cinnamon until blended. If using a mixer, batter will remain slightly lump. Melt butter or margarine in a 12 inch… Read More
Thrifty Finds Tuesday: Art I Heart
I love looking at artwork at thrift shops, garage sales and antique shops. So much of it seems to have been created by woman for their friends, which makes it extra special. I'm always amazed at how much artistic talent is and was out there. Here are a few of my favorites: Untitled Oil Painting by Janel Richardson Untitled Print by Hone Untitled Watercolor Painting by Catherine Simpson This was one of my first art/garage sale buys back in 1987! I got it for my Dad but I think I loved it more so it's been living with me… Read More
O Pioneer (Woman)
What a whirlwind weekend. Making stuff for an upcoming craft sale and for a store that will be carrying some of my products. Having a stamp-a-thon with my cousin Heather and my friend Ann to get ready. Spending way too much time with a bag of felt and a die cut machine. Walking around with a post-surgery swollen upper lip, making me look like Marge Simpson or the victim of a collagen injection gone bad. And then… like a gal on the prairie stuck in a storm… blindly marching ahead… braving the elements… with no food… no water… only hope… Read More
Max’s BackStory Update
I was planning on taking all of us to Paris this morning (at least in through photos) but I'm going to write about something closer to home instead. My 7-year old, Max has spent the past 6 months wearing a brace for 23 hours a day. He hasn't been able to run, jump or basically do all the things little boys do. No sports, including swimming. No PE and only recently, he's been allowed to go outside for one 15 minute recess a day (but no "physical" activity). He's spent 2 hours a week in PT and about 30 minutes… Read More

Yummy Wednesday: Soda Fountain Cakes
When I was a little girl my Mom did the coolest thing for one of my birthday parties. She filled ice cream cones up with candy and then put ice cream on the top. When I found this recipe in a vintage Better Homes and Gardens Book, I was reminded of that sweet party detail. With this recipe, you bake the cake in the ice cream cones… and the cones don't burn! Soda Fountain Cakes To make the cake, you just need a package of flat bottom ice cream cones and a box of cake mix (I used yellow). Set… Read More
