Floral Fantasy Necklace with Martha Stewart Jewelry

If you like to create, you know that craft products from Martha Stewart are always beautiful, functional and innovative, including the new Martha Stewart Jewelry by Plaid Crafts line, available at Michaels.

I had the opportunity to play with these fun products recently and create a Floral Fantasy Necklace from scratch! I have not had the chance to make a lot of jewelry in my crafting adventures so this was super exciting for me. I appreciated how easy it was to use the products.

The package I received focused on Glazing and Glazing Techniques. Since I had these beautiful shades of Jewelry Glaze, I wanted to showcase how easy it was to use both glazing techniques. Here’s a list of items I used:

I wanted to use as many products as possible! Check out how effortless it was to create two different looks with the jewelry glaze:

Martha Stewart Jewelry Glazing Techniques

Opaque Technique

1. Using a cotton ball, wipe the piece you want to paint with rubbing alcohol to make the surface clean

2. Shake paint well

3. With a small brush, add paint the surface

4. Let it dry

Antique Technique

1. Same process as the Opaque technique

2. Using a cloth, gently remove some of the paint

3. Let it dry

Since I had a combo of silver and gold pieces, I did a Antique Glaze in Titanium first, to tone down the gold. Then I did another Antique Glaze in Pool. Here are my pieces as they were drying.

The yellow cabochon can be quickly glued to silver setting with Martha Stewart Crafts™ Jewelry Glue. After it dried, I used a jump ring and round-nosed pliers to attach it to the silver necklace.

Using a head pin, I added three of my favorite Czech Beads and added to the bottom of the yellow cabochon and silver setting.

Once all my pieces were dry, I played around with the spacing until I got it right. Then I attached the charms and enamel blanks with jump rings.

Just in time for spring and summer– it’s a Floral Fantasy Necklace. Thanks Martha Stewart Jewelry and Michaels. Now I just need to throw a garden party so I can show my new necklace off!

Big Scrabble Tile Decor

Are you a Scrabble or Words with Friends fan? Then you’ll love creating this Big Scrabble Decor! You only need six items and a little bit of t-i-m-e.

I love a simple project that has BIG impact! Here’s what you’ll need:

Supplies: A 10 x 10 artist’s canvas, a 12 x 12 piece of woodgrain paper, usually found in the scrapbook aisle. A large wooden letter of your choice, a small number (I lucked out and found one that was already painted black), Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue, America Acrylic Paint in Black, a paper cutter or scissors. All items available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frame in Redmond, Washington.

Step 1: Paint the large wooden letter black. It may take 2-3 coats to get full coverage.

Step 2: Let it completely dry.

Step 3: If you have a paper cutter, cut your wooden scrapbook paper to 10 x 10. If you don’t have a paper cutter, no problem. Flip your paper over so the wooden side is face down and use a ruler to measure 10 x10 inches. Cut it out.

Step 4: Apply the Beacon 3-in-1 Advanced Craft Glue to the artist’s canvas. Carefully place the piece of wooden scrapbook paper on top.

Step 5: Use the glue to attach the large letter and small number and let it set.

How cute would it be to have a wall of these big scrabble tiles, one for every member of the family? Or a single big scrabble time with the first letter of the family’s last name and the number of family members in the corner?
