I'm so inspired by spring right now, specifically all the birds who have suddenly appeared. It's partly because of a fantastic holiday/new home/birthday gift I received from my friend Annette. We like to call it "The Seed Shack." From my kitchen window, I could literally spend hours spying on the diners at who stop by. Can you spot the little birdie towards the bottom of the feeder on the left side? That brave little soul didn't seem too concerned about the mighty hunter sharing the backyard with him. Gus spends about 23 hours a day napping, but he will spring… Read More
Time + Life
"For a long time it had seemed to me that life was about to begin – real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be gotten through first, some unfinished business, time to be served or debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life." Fr. Alfred D'Souza
What a Stud
Studs are everywhere this spring (I'm pretending it's not winter). Not the type you date. The kind you can wear. Did the stud reference date me? That particular use of the term "stud" is circa 1988. Happily, when it comes to fashion, there are studded pieces in every price range. How cute is this Olivia Harris purse? And so is this stylish satchel by The Sak. What is lacks in studs, it makes up for in price. A studded tee with your favorite jeans would create a fun "going out" look. I like that these tops from Eight… Read More
A Normal Day
Art by Mia "Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow. Let me hold you while I may, for it may not always be so. One day I shall dig my nails into the earth, or bury my face in the pillow, or stretch myself taut, or raise my hands to the sky and want, more than all the world, your return." Mary Jean
L-O-V-E
The spirit of Valentine's Day is in the air. You know, L-O-V-E. For weeks, Mia has been talking about a young man in her class… we'll call him Mr. "B." Yesterday, Max and I got to meet Mr. B for the first time at Mi's class Valentine's Day Party. She's in the back row and guess who's standing to her right? My little lovebug has been coming home from school with stories about Mr. B. First he was kissing her shoulder. Next he was kissing her on the face. Then he told her he loved her. That's when Mia informed… Read More
Ka-Zoo Magnet Boards
Images from Scrapbook.com This Ka-Zoo paper pad from K & Company is darling. So is the matching chipboard. If you teach one of my kids, turn away now. Ha! It was so simple to make teacher gifts for Valentine's Day with these products. I just picked up some 8×8 frames, metal for behind the glass, some smaller magnets… and voila! I just love no-calorie Valentine's Day treats!
Sassafras + Valentine’s Day = Love
Sassafras has a fun and fabulous line of paper and crafting products. Their stuff has a retro feel (my decade, the '80's) and I like playing around with all the patterns and colors. I heart you, Sassafras!
Rainbows On The Way
"The way I see it… if you want the rainbow, you gotta put up with the rain." -Dolly Parton I think the forecast is for rainbows. Michelle has her last chemo next Monday (!). Max is going to the Pediatric Sports Medicine Doctor today. I am hopeful she'll allow us to increase his activity. I am ready for a rainbow (or two)!
Fun Day Monday: Valentine’s Day Craft
Have you ever been the lucky recipient of a Cookie Bouquet? Something like this? When all that's left is a pile of crumbs and some plastic… STOP yourself from tossing it. Here's what I made last Valentine's Day (forgive me for the horrid photos please)! Turns out that plastic stuff is super easy to paint. My base was a generic vanilla color and I painted it with red acrylic paint (2 coats). Then I used Martha Stewart glitter to give it a little sparkle. The paper is by Teresa Collins. The crocheted flowers, heart buttons, ribbons and pins are from… Read More
