2nd Saturdayz in Snohomish this Weekend

2nd Saturdayz

Hello! I am a BIG fan of the 2nd Saturdayz Market Flea Market here in the Seattle area.

Promoters/Vendors Linda Morrison and Deb Bock have this crazy talent for creating and displaying vintage and up-cycled things. I have an immediate two-step reaction when I go to their flea market. It throws me into a swoon and then I quickly whip out my wallet. It's 2nd Saturdayz's one year anniversary this weekend and the ladies are celebrating in style. The show will be in Snohomish this Saturday May 14th. And I am darned excited! See you there….

Crafty Soiree #37… Fun with Flowers

Let's party! Welcome to the 37th Crafty Soiree, hosted by Katie's Nesting Spot and YoT. It's time to stop and smell the flowers… or at least admire them.

My favorite type of project– fairly simple and super cute…. this decoupaged plate by Ann over at Blissful Whimsy would be really fun to make.

Charming! Suzy shares a great tutorial on making a vintage bouquet on her very entertaining (and informative) blog Suzy's Artsy Crafty Sitcom.

Sandy from Cherished Handmade Treasures created this elegant necklace using fabric flowers.

Thanks for sharing your projects!

I'd love to see what else you're been working on…

2.  Add your link to the specific posts not the main URL.

3.  Add a "Crafty Soiree" button to your blog or posts.

4.  Please comment on the post linked up in front of you.  All partygoers love meeting new friends… don't just stop there…if you see something that catches your fancy– stop by and say hi!

DIY Glitter Globes

Glitter globe aren't just for winter. This simple project is perfectly suited for anytime of the year. It's easy and if you happen to have a little guy (or big guy) who creates models, you can snag their paint… making this project very inexpensive to put together.

Tip: Scan your junk drawers or kid's toy bins for tiny figurines. If you need to buy them, Archie McPhee has a great selection, many available online.

Step 1: Paint the baby food lids with enamel paint and let completely dry.

Step 2: Use hot glue to secure figurine to the inside of the lid.

Step 3: Hold firmly in place to adhere.

Step 4: Put a teaspoon of Karo (corn syrup) in the container

Step 5: Fill up with water and mix it up. Add a teaspoon of fine glitter.

Step 6: Use a thin line of hot glue on the inside of the lid and quickly screw it on.

Shake and enjoy!

For an inspirational story about the ultimate Mamas– Mommy Polar Bears give birth, raise their cubs alone… then travel upwards of 40 miles with their babies to find food!

See the story on ABC's Nightline here. Yes, it happens to be by my favorite correspondent/hubby.
