Millicent and Malia: Easy Coffee Cake
Hello Friends!
Thanks for stopping by for some coffee cake today. I'm working my way through my Grandma Millicent's vintage recipes in this series called "Millicent and Malia." And I seem to be drawn to the sweet stuff quite a bit. As for today's treat, Grandma Millicent was a practical gal. I can feel her personality in this recipe– all simple ingredients you probably have on hand.
Ingredients
1 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
1 1/4 cup Flour
2/3 t Salt
2/3 t Cinnamon
1/2 cup Shortening
1 1/4 t Baking Powder
1 Egg
1/2 cup Milk
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees
Mix flour, sugar, cinnamon and salt
Add shortening and work in like pie. Set aside 1/3 of the mixture for the top
Add Baking Powder, Egg and Milk
Sprinkle remaining mixture on top. Bake for 20-30 minutes.
Grab a fork!
