4 Not-So-Spooky No-Carve Pumpkin Ideas
Hi Pals… we all think of Fall as a time of change, right? The leaves turn brilliant colors and float to the ground… we put away the capris and tanks and pull out the cords… the iced vanilla latte makes way for the pumpkin spice latte. Well, I have been slowly transforming too. I've made to difficult decisions but now that I've had a little time really let them sink in, I am feeling so positive and good about them.
The biggest change for me was resigning from my job(s) at a really lovely women's magazine. I adored my boss, enjoyed editing and was happy to "manage" (although none of them really needed managment) a bunch of really cool, accomplished and fun women.
Some family related things came up and I suddenly found huge chunks of my time were committed to something and as much as I struggled, I literally couldn't keep up the pace of working… so I quit. And I felt terrible. I started realizing how much of my identity was tied up in the job. I gave notice on a Friday and spent the weekend with a "Resignation Hangover." I was felt anxious, guilty and overall crummy.
My boss was understanding and I agreed to stay on for 6 more weeks while she found my replacements. I really like my boss personally and I care deeply about the publication (I was with them for two years) so I was happy to stay on for a bit. So I've had a month and a half to make the transition.
Well, my official last day of work is the last day of October. Two awesome gals have been hired and trained to take over and I am feeling so peaceful about my decision. I guess I knew this logically but it felt really different learning through my own experience.
We are NOT our job titles– we are all so many great things and all the stuff that makes up "us" is so much bigger than what's written on our business cards.
I will continue with the blog (lots of BIG improvements to come), my KOMO-TV segments which I absolutely love doing… and freelancing for a video production company. I feel SO excited by the blank spaces that are going to be filled over time.
Speaking of time– here are a few of the timesaving no-carve pumpkin ideas I shared on my TV segment last week. All done with craft (plastic) pumpkins, paint, Duck Tape, glitter, stickers and "Bling on a Roll."
How fun! Thanks for the great and easy ideas!
