Starfish Candle Holder and Printable Art

How to DIY a Starfish Candle Holder out of a flower pot. A easy beachy craft and decor project, plus lovely printable inspirational art.

Hi Friends! Welcome to the first day of the Seashell Crafts Event. I’m excited to be joining eleven other bloggers for three days of seashell crafts, just in time for summer!

A dozen amazing seashell crafts, tons of beautiful beach themed decor ideas.

So we all have extra flower pots, right? Here’s a great upcycle/recycle idea for pot and saucer.

Supplies: Flower pot, acrylic paint (this is Bahama Blue from DecoArt), a sealer like DuraClear Ultra Matte from DecoArt, a tea light holder, a tea light, some rope or ribbon, a starfish, hot glue and some glass beads.

Step 1: Paint the flower pot.

Step 2: Give it a coat of sealer.

Step 3: Use hot glue to add the rope starfish.

Step 4: Add the candle, votive and glass beads.

This candle holder is really durable (thanks to the sealer) so you can use it indoors or outdoors.

If starfish aren’t your thing, use another type of shell.

Gifts from the Sea

Have you read Gifts from the Sea by Anne Morrow Lindbergh? It’s one of my favorite books to read and reread. If you aren’t familiar with Anne’s story, she was the wife of the famous pilot Charles Lindbergh, and she suffered a terrible loss when her baby was kidnapped. I really admire Anne, her grace and strength, and the way she was able to carry on and find so much good in the world.

So I created this printable: Gifts from the Sea Art. Just click the link, save it to your computer, print and frame.

Hi Malia, I just love your flowerpot candle holder, and I’m glad to know about the sealer. I painted some pots last year and most of the paint has already chipped off! Pinning and sharing on FB!
