Creating a Smart Home with Hive can make your everyday life simpler– freeing up time and energy so you can do more of those things you love. Sounds pretty awesome right? It allows you to control all the important aspects of your home… right from your smart phone.
How does it work? Hive’s Welcome Home Plan is designed with a mix of products and services, allowing you to adjust heating, air conditioning, lighting and appliances from where you are. So whether you are coming home from a busy day at work and want the air conditioning systems on for when you walk in the door… or you’re traveling and want to turn on a light to make it look like someone’s home… Hive has you covered! I recently received the Welcome Home Plan, it was delivered right to my doorstep. Hive’s Welcome Home plan is a smart home ecosystem, so everything works together!
I couldn’t wait to open the box. Part of me was wondering if these products would seem really different from the regular ones (lightbulbs, plugs) that I was used to… but they didn’t look that different at all.
Included in the Welcome Home Plan was the Hive Hub, Hive Active Thermostat™, Hive Active Lights™, Hive Active Plugs™ and Hive Window or Door Sensors. You also need to have a Broadband wifi, Computer and Smartphone (Android 4/IOS 7 or higher). You also need to download the Hive app on the Apple App Store, Google play, or Amazon to put your home in your hands.
You can install it yourself. There are service features that include access to the Hive mobile app for remote home control through schedules, notifications and more. First up– the Hive Hub. The Hive Hub plugs right into a broadband router to see and control the Hive ecosystem of products from a smartphone, laptop or budget drawing tablet.
Next, the Hive Active Thermostat. It allows you to control the heating or cooling of your home from your smart phone.
Then the Hive Active Light™. With the Hive Active Light, you can switch lights on and off, set schedules, and dim lights from a smartphone with Hive Active Light™ bulbs. Pretty cool, huh?
I was curious about the Hive Active Plug™. With the Hive Active Plug, you can actually turn electrical appliances like an iron, radio or lamp on and off, from anywhere at anytime. This is HUGE for me… I am always worried that I left the house with the flat iron plugged in. With Hive, I’ll never have to worry about that again.
Do you worry about your kids coming and going when you’re not home? The Hive Window or Door Sensors are clever wireless sensors send alerts to a smartphone if windows or doors are opened or closed. So you will know EVERYTHING about the kid’s comings and goings.
Finally, there’s also a Hive Motion Sensor This wireless sensor sends an alert to your smartphone if there’s movement in your home, giving you peace of mind while at work or on vacation.
