Spring Napkin Rings Project
Hi Friends! I am unplugging for a few days so I can spend some quality time with my family. But I have left you in good… make that GREAT– hands! Some of my fabulous friends will be guest posting for me this week and sharing some of their favorite posts and projects with you. First up, my dear friend Carolyn from homework:
Spring Napkin Rings Project
I’m so happy to be here at Yesterday on Tuesday while Malia is taking a little spring break. Spring is definitely in the air so I thought I’d share this easy spring flower napkin ring project with all of you.
To make these little flowers you can use crepe paper, tissue paper or napkins like I did. I wanted my flowers to have a water color feel to them so I used cheap white napkins and painted them with water colors.
I sprinkled water on the napkins and then dabbed water color paints here and there until I achieved a mottled effect. Since the napkins are wet, the paint bleeds together nicely. Once you’re done painting, let the napkins dry thoroughly.
When you make these flowers, try to find interesting parts of the napkin with different colors and tones. Cut a strip of the napkin and fold the strip over and over similar to making paper dolls. Cut the top edge of the folded napkin in semi circle cutting through all the layers in the folded piece. When you unfold the strip you should have a scalloped edge. Unfold and roll the strip into a flower holding the bottom straight edge as you roll. You can dab a bit of hot glue onto the bottom edge to hold your flower together.
The rings are made out of floral wire and covered with a green paper napkin and Mod Podge. I used a hot glue gun to adhere the flowers to the wire and covered the flower base with more of the green napkin.
The napkins are super thin {cheap} which makes them all the more delicate and airy.
These are just daring!
These are so pretty. Thanks for the tutorial. Michelle x
