Make it Monday: Personalized Beach Bucket

It's just about Beach Bucket Time!  I found these at Michael's– a dollar apiece.  I thought they'd be a fun favor for my little girl's end of the year party.

This is what I used:  Plaid Chalkboard paint, masking tape and some DecoColor Pens.

Tape off a big rectangle.

Apply the chalkboard paint.  It took me 4 layers (letting each layer dry before applying another one) to get a nice consistent chalkboard color.

Draw something fun on the "chalkboard" area

Carefully remove the masking tape… Tah Dah!

Speaking of chalkboards… I am so close to opening my Etsy store.  There is quite a bit of chalkboard like material involved.  Here's a sneak peak:

Summer is just around the corner and that means Taking Trips With Kids.  Don't be scared!  I'll be doing a giveaway this week that will make traveling more fun for everyone.

Tomorrow I'll be sharing some thrifty fun from a gigantic neighborhood rummage sale I went to this weekend.  I'm still swooning some coasters my friend Meredith picked up (11 for $2.50).  They ended up being worth over $60!

  6. Very Very cute! So perfect for those trips to the beach. It would be fun to make it permanent with a white paint pen too – so that the kids could tell whose bucket was whose. Love that little pennant on the top too.

  7. Cute idea! I love making something with plastic pails for my grandkids to use at the little coves around my home. We love to explore and they always need something to put there little “finds” in. I think this idea will be my “2011” pail..
