 Here are some fun projects for kids to make this Halloween– everything from a chalkboard Halloween countdown pumpkin to a last minute Minion costume!

How to make a Chalkboard Countdown Pumpkin for Halloween

Chalkboard Countdown Pumpkin

Supplies: cardboard pumpkin, chalkboard paint, green craft paint, white stickers and chalk. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Paint the pumpkin with the chalkboard paint (may take 2-3 coats).

2. Paint the stem green.

3. Use stickers (or chalk) to make countdown.

Transform a Mason Jar into a cute Jack O'Lantern for Halloween

Mason Jar Jack O’Lantern

Supplies: mason jar, jack o’lantern vinyl, small wooden knob, green and brown acrylic paint and green twine. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Paint the wooden know brown.

2. Paint the jar lid and rim green.

3. Add vinyl jack o’lantern to jar.

4. Glue wooden knob to jar.

5. Add twine to know.

6. Fill jar with candy corn.
DIY Pom Pom Halloween Critters, a great kid's craft

Pom Pom Halloween Critters

Materials: halloween pom poms, black chenille stems, 7mm googly eyes, black 2mm fun foam, Beacons 3-in 1 glue, scissors, green felt square. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Spider Instructions

1. Twist 4 chenilles together in the middle.

2. Glue a pom pom in the middle of the twisted chenilles .

3. Glue eyes on.

4. Separate the legs and bend the chenilles to make knees and ankles for the spider.

Jack O’Lantern Instructions

1. Cut out an irregular circle, a rectangle and two leaves from green felt.

2. Roll the rectangle into a stalk and secure with glue.

3. Glue the stalk to the irregular circle. Glue the circle on top of the pumpkin.

3. Glue leaves near stalk.

4. Glue eyes on.

3. Cut a nose and mouth from black felt foam.

Bat Instructions

1.Cut two bat wings and two bat ears from black foam.

2. Glue on black pom pom.

3. Glue eyes in black pom pom.

Halloween Bookmarks

Supplies: Darice Foamies Bookmarks Foam Kit (makes 36 bookmarks), all craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

How to transform a yellow baseball cap into a cute Minions hat for Halloween

Minion Hat

Supplies: yellow baseball hat, black fabric paint, black adhesive felt, gray felt, two large googly eyes, black puffy paint and craft glue. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Paint the hat brim black and let dry.

2. Cut two circles out of the felt, slightly larger in size than the googly eyes.

3. Using photo as a guide, cut two strips of black felt.

4. Make “hair” on hat with puffy paint.

5. Glue gray felt circles on hat and add googly eyes.

6. Add black adhesive strips to either side of the eyes.

Googly Eye Wreath kid's craft

Googly Eye Wreath

Supplies: cardboard wreath, black acrylic paint, google eyes, craft glue, and ribbon. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Paint one wreath ring black, let it dry.

2. Glue the painted ring to the plain ring.

3. Make ribbon into a bow and attach to wreath ring.

4. Glue on google eyes.

Transform a plain tee shirt into a minion tee shirt

DIY Minion Shirt

Supplies: yellow tee-shirt, black and white adhesive felt, giant eye, black puffy paint and craft glue. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Cut a strip from the black felt and then cut in half.

2. Cut a mouth shape from the black felt.

3. Cut a thin rectangle shape from the white felt and add “teeth” with puffy paint. Let dry.

4. Draw “hair” on tee-shirt. Place a piece of cardboard between front and back of shirt to keep paint from seeping through. Let dry.

5. Using photo as a guide, place the black strips of felt on the tee-shirt.

6. Add giant eye with craft glue.

Simple Jack O'Lantern Necklace, a great craft project for kids

Jack O’Lantern Necklace

Supplies: Small glass vial, orange sand, small jack o’lantern vinyl, colored seed bead chain and jewelry screw. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Apply vinyl to vial.

2. Add orange sand to vinyl.

3. Add screw to cork and replace on vial.

4. String seed bead necklace through hole on screw.

Mini Candy Jars, a cute Halloween craft for kids

Mini Candy Jars

Supplies: small jars, six let candy in white, green and orange, spider vinyl and small bow stickers. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Instructions:

1. Apply vinyl to jars.

2. Add candy.

3. Add bow stickers to lids.
