DIY Farmhouse Stool

It’s easy to transform an affordable and quality stool into this charming DIY Farmhouse Stool… it all starts with a trip to a CORT Clearance Center for discount furniture!

CORT Clearance Centers are fabulous places to find well made, affordable (not cheap!) furniture at great prices. I visited the CORT Clearance Center in Tukwila, Washington. I was very impressed with all they had to offer.

And the selection is inspiring. I saw everything from bedroom and living sets to art, to couches and tables… even decorative pieces. CORT Clearance Centers have it all.

Plus they are all CORT Certified, meaning CORT guarantees that if any product is found to be defective within 90 days or purchase, they will repair or replace it. You can’t go wrong! Plus they’ll even have extra discounts on sets or “home to go” packages. It’s so worth a trip to your local clearance center.

I spotted this stool… and all kinds of possibilities for upcycling it.

Stool Before

I noticed right away that the stool was sturdy and well made. Here it is before.

Supplies

I grabbed some white paint, contact paper and sandpaper to give the piece a “Farmhouse” look.

Painting the Stool

First I sanded the stool, wiped off and then started painting.

Here it is with a couple coats of white paint.

Contact Paper

After it was dry, I traced the top on the back of some pretty contact paper.

Sanding contact paper

I applied the paper and as expected, it was a little too big. I sanded down the edges to make it fit perfectly as well as giving it a rustic look.

I love that well-worn, farmhouse style feel!

Stool after sanding

To complete the projects, I sanded the paint off where it might naturally wear off.

I’m in love with my upcycled stool. It’s a piece that looks great with anything… and I can put in anywhere in my home. I am so happy I was able to take an awesome stool and make it my own!
