Upcycled Kid’s Creativity Kit TO GO
Hello! I want to apologize for not being as good of a blog buddy recently as I'd like to be. We have a new addition to our family– he's a sweet baby… named "Beans." And I am learning that like other babies, he needs A LOT of attention.
Beans is a 8 month old rescue dog. He was discovered with his sister in an abandoned house in California. Some kind souls rescued him and brought him to Seattle where he spent some time getting medical care. He became a member of our family just over a week ago. Everyone (even the cat) is smitten. Beans likes "participating" in my projects… like this Kid's Creativity Kit:
Main supplies: Plastic Swiffer bin, plastic sandwich meat container, 2 small baby food jars, spray paint, strong scissors. Clean out the containers and trim the extra stuff off the rim of the food container.
First up…
Spray paint the baby food jar lids.
You will be amazed at HOW MUCH STUFF you can fit in the empty Swiffer container. I filled up with supplies from Target, either the $1 bin or the crafts aisle (those items were $2)
Beads $2, Elastic Cord $2, 5 Pack of Crayon Erasers $1, Dry Erase Board $1
Mead lined paper pad $2, plain paper pad $1, Pip Squeaks, Crayons under $1, rubber stamps, $1, ink pads $1 each
You can fit all the alphabet stamps in a small baby food jar as well as a good supply of beads
In the smaller plastic container– a layer of crayons and all the Pip Squeaks
I also added some kid sized scissors and a pencil
The pink paper pad was fine, but a little scrap paper and doubled sided tape and an embellishment or two makes it even better Everything fits together neatly
And the dry erase board goes on top
To prettify the case, you can use scrap paper, and adhere it with doubled sided tape around the bin. Also fun– letter stickers (these are from American Crafts) on top as well as more small embellishments. I am looking forward to keeping my five year old entertained "on the road" this summer, thanks to this kit!
XO

I just found your blog and I’m working on a very similar thing! However, I went for the bigger container (a very large animal cracker container from Sams) and have filled it with all the random art items from my collection that I can give my daughter and she’ll have her own stash. She’s a little young for some of it, so it’s a work in progress until she’s a little older – but I have stickers, pipe cleaners, crayons, markers, ribbbon, paper in all sizes, and random other things as I find them. I like your size though as a good car/travel size!
Hello! I’m Kassandra @ Coffee and their Kisses. I featured this here at my blog. I hope you’ll stop by and grab a featured button. Thank you for sharing this with us!
This creative activity kit is just as adorable as Beans. His name suits him. He looks like he’s full of beans and I want to hug him through the screen! Congrats on the new pup and awesome project :)
