What Comfort Means to Me

How I Get Comfortable

Hey Ladies! We can all relate to not always feeling awesome “that time of the month.” It can come on when you least expect it, leaving you feeling cranky and uncomfortable. And in my case, acne ridden and bloated.

It’s such a bummer to feel junky. Luckily, there are things that you can do to make yourself feel better.

When the cramps and grumpiness get to be too much, I write myself a prescription… for COMFORT!

How I Get Comfortable

The most important thing I need is my comfy chair. It’s just roomy enough to fit a pillow behind my back. The next must-have is a cozy blanket. Being able to snuggle up is essential. If I really want to treat myself, I also brighten up my nook with some fresh flowers. Even the most inexpensive flowers make me feel cheerier.

The next item on my list is very important: chocolate. I don’t think calories count during this time of the month! Enjoying a nice box of chocolates always makes me feel good. If you’re going to munch chocolate, you need some fun magazines to read too. I like to kick back with a few of my faves.

I also like to light to a candle to set the mood for relaxation. The fun part is, I embellish the candle myself. And doing a crafty project can also be a great way to get my mind off of what’s going on in my body!

How to Make a Plain Candle Pretty

Transform a plain candle into a pretty one!

Supplies: Plain candle, Mod Podge, Paper Napkin, small sharp scissors and a paintbrush.

Candle 1

Step 1: Carefully cut the shapes you like out of the napkin.

Candle 2

Step 2: If it’s a nicer napkin, it may have two layers. Separate the top and bottom layers.

Candle 3

Step 3: Lightly brush the back of the paper shapes with Mod Podge and place on candle.

Candle 4

Step 4: Cover the empty areas with cutouts.

Candle 5

Step 5: Do another layer of Mod Podge on top of the shapes.

Candle 6

Voila! You have a pretty calendar to enjoy.

Transform a plain candle into a pretty one!

Now you have a lovely candle to enjoy! And you got your mind off of that “business” for a while. I promise that if you follow my prescription for comfort (comfy chair, cozy blanket, flowers, chocolate, magazines AND a crafty project/pretty candle) you will feel better during that time of the month!

  1. I pamper myself by getting up early to exercise, and then rewarding myself with 15 minutes of reading a great book and drinking a yummy cup of coffee.

  2. I love this idea, and I’m going to try it! I usually pamper myself with a lot of the same things you listed, but I’d probably add a nap to my list!

  3. I pamper myself by taking 15 minutes to myself to drink a cup of tea, paint my nails and catch up online.

  4. I don’t get a chance to pamper myself often, but going *anywhere* solo, grabbing a drink from Starbucks, or getting a back rub would all be wonderful. :)

  7. I like to pamper myself with a nice hot bath, take a nap in the tub, let the water cool down and then refill with more hot water. A good book is a must (if I can stay awake).
