Birdies on the Brain
I'm so inspired by spring right now, specifically all the birds who have suddenly appeared. It's partly because of a fantastic holiday/new home/birthday gift I received from my friend Annette. We like to call it "The Seed Shack." From my kitchen window, I could literally spend hours spying on the diners at who stop by.
Can you spot the little birdie towards the bottom of the feeder on the left side? That brave little soul didn't seem too concerned about the mighty hunter sharing the backyard with him. Gus spends about 23 hours a day napping, but he will spring off his blanket if he hears the sliding door open.
One of my absolute most favorite artists of all time, Charley Harper, has filled entire books with his amazing images of birds and other wildlife. I had ordered this book from the library months ago and was so happy to pick it up today.
In other news, Max's school has a craft & rummage sale coming up. Proceeds benefit the teachers and students. Among the many projects floating around my head and cluttering up on my desk– scrabble tile pendants. There will be lots of vintage bird images among them. I'm also using Japanese Washi paper, fabric and scrapbook paper. The tiles are really fun to create.
She's not a bird but she is one cool chick (HA!). My friend Michelle has a new blog post up. She continues to be so incredible and graceful while battling breast cancer. I'm working on a little something for her. Shhh….
I seem to have birds on the brain as well these days. I’m trying to find the perfect bird prints for my living room, but the ones I find I can’t afford. Perhaps you can help me figure out how to craft one into existence.
