Happy Birthday + A Pioneer Woman Giveaway

Happy Birthday Dad!  My Dad is celebrating an important birthday today.  He is the most encouraging, patient, kind and cheerful person I know.  He is always looking for a way to be of service to others.  Dad does so much for his family and his friends.  He's also very creative and a fantastic writer.  Oh and he has a wonderful sense of humor.

Here's some of the advice and sayings I've picked from him over the years:

• Manners make the Man and the Woman
• If you are feeling sorry for yourself get out there and do something nice for someone else.  It will take your mind off your problems.
• When your kids want to tell you something little, listen to them.  Then when they have something big to say, they'll come to you.
• What you need to do is find the guy with the other half of your problem.
• Cream always rises
• Show up everyday (be present)
• Measure twice, cut once (although Dad will give you creative license on this one)
• If you want to find the fastest way to get something done, watch the laziest guy do the job and you will figure it out.
• Educate yourself (read).  
• Be proactive.

I think Pioneer Woman would probably agree with all this advice *wink*.
