Do you have a favorite number? I do. It’s the number 3. It always has been and always will be my very favorite number. Hence this delicious Hearty 3 Sausage Casserole. But let me explain…

Hillshire Farm Sausage

My birthday is January 3rd…

My son wears the number 3 jersey for soccer…

And, I have 3 kids (ok, one is a golden retriever, but still…)

Here’s the bottom line– three is a very LUCKY number in my life. Even when it comes to delicious food… it’s the number THREE for me! I recently signed up for the “Just for U” program at Safeway and get this, if you sign up too,  you will save $3 when you buy 3 Hillshire Farm products! And peeps– you need to shop THIS WEEK. This offer is only valid until Saturday the 19th! Note: This campaign is sponsored by Hillshire Farm.

Just to reiterate: Save $3 at Safeway when you buy ANY THREE participating Hillshire Farm products. MIX & MATCH! Go to the Safeway “Just For U” website to sign ip to get the Buy 3, Save 3 Offer.

MMM… delectable Hillshire Farm refrigerated products. I set out for Safeway to score some yummy sausage for a recipe I had in mind.

Hillshire Farm Sausage

Ingredients: 6 oz Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Chicken Apple with Gouda Cheese Premium Smoked Sausage, 7 oz Hillshire Farm Lit’l Smokies Smoked Sausage, 7 oz Hillshire Farm Angus Beef Smoked Sausage. 8 slice of sourdough bread, 4 eggs, 2 1/2 cups of milk, 1 tsp dry mustard, 1/2 cup minced onions, 1/4 lb sliced mushrooms, 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese.

With all the stuff my family takes on, they need a hearty breakfast. So I decided to cook them up a satisfying Hearty 3 Sausage Casserole.

Hearty 3 Sausage Casserole

Step One: Preheat oven to 350. Spray a casserole dish with cooking spray. Slice up and fry up your yummy sausage! This is what Hillshire Farm Gourmet Creations Chicken Apple with Gouda Cheese Premium Smoked Sausage, Lit’l Smokies Smoked Sausage and Angus Beef Smoked Sausage. I dare you not to take a few nibbles!

Step 2: Chunk the bread into squares

Step 3: Mix milk, egg, seasonings and diced onion in a separate bowl.

Step 4: In your baking dish, alternate layers of bread, sausage and mushrooms. First the bread…

 Then the sausage and mushrooms…

Then more bread…. (3 layers… see it’s that fabulous number 3 again)!

Step 5: Pour the egg mixture on top. Cover with plastic wrap and let it sit in fridge overnight.

Step 6:  The next day, sprinkle cheese on top, cover with foil and make at 350 degrees for one hour (remove foil for last 10 minutes).

ENJOY!

Ummm YUM! I want some of that right now. My in-laws favorite number is 3 and they have it everywhere. They even insisted the last 4 digits of their phone # are 3333. ;)
