Chocolate Dipped Apples

{Chocolate Dipped Apples}

I have been drooling over all the beautiful carmel apples out there. I got a bee in my bonnet to make some myself yesterday but since my kiddos had a half day at school and there were some friends over, I couldn’t run out and grab any caramel. So I raided my pantry and found some chocolate baking chips and lots of other odds and ends. And so Chocolate Dipped Apples were born!

Halloween Treats

 Ingredients: Whatever you have in your pantry! I used Ghirardelli Chocolate Semi-Sweet Baking Chips, sprinkles, crushed Reese Peanut Butter Cups, and MNM’s (and let me confess…. it’s likely some of these items are from last Halloween!) Apples and straws or sticks and wax paper to lay the apples on afterwards.

Step 1: Wash and dry the apples.

Step 2: Get all your candy organized (as in dump each thing out on a paper plate)

Step 3: Make a spot for the straw (Tip: I used the back of an electric mixer beater) and insert or use a stick.

Step 4: In the microwave, melt the chocolate in an microwave safe bowl. Tip: I like to stir it after 1 minute and 2 minutes with a rubber spatula sprayed with cooking spray.

Step 5: Dip the apple in the bowl, (turning the bowl to get optimal coverage) then quickly add the candy or sprinkles and put the apple on the wax paper to set. Fastest thing EVER!

    I think that sometimes the best kinds of ideas come from forced ingenuity. This is great, and I’m sure your kids were thrilled!
