 Embroidery Hoop Turkey Art

Supplies: Embroidery Hoop, canvas, felt in brown, red, yellow, orange, blue and purple. White dimensional (puffy) paint, scissors, googly eye, craft glue. All materials from Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Directions:

1. Trace your child’s hand on to the brown felt and cut out.

2. Cut out five feather shapes from the different colored felt.

3. Make dashes around the edge of the feathers with white puffy paint. Let dry.

4. Cut a red waddle and orange beak from felt.

5. Cut a piece of canvas and put it inside the hoop. Trim away the excess material.

6. Glue feathers, eye, beak and waddle on turkey.

7. Glue turkey to fabric. Note: write the child’s name or the year on the turkey for added oomph.

 Directions: Purchase a Turkey Hand Puppet Kit from Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond and follow package instructions. Use as puppets or to decorate cupcakes.

Turkey Treat Box

DIY a sweet Turkey Treat Box Thanksgiving craft from https://yesterdayontuesday.com

Supplies: Small round cardboard gift box, wooden turkey shape, brown and yellow acrylic paint, googly eyes, felt for beak and waddle, small package of feathers and craft glue. All materials from Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Directions:

1. Paint the cardboard gift box brown and let it dy.

2. Paint the wooden turkey body brown and legs yellow. Let dry.

3. Make turkey face on cardboard box with google eyes and felt beak and waddle. Glue everything on.

4. Glue box on wooden turkey body.

5. Glue colorful feathers on.

6. Fill with treats.

Pinecone Woodland Creatures

A charming fox, owl and bear created from pinecones by https://yesterdayontuesday.com

 Supplies: Pinecones, bright acrylic paint (I used Bright Orange, Cabana Blue and Bright Yellow from DecoArt), orange, blue yellow, white and brown card stock, orange, blue yellow, white and brown felt, either canvas or cream colored felt googly eyes, small pom poms for the nose, canvas, craft glue. All materials from Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

For the Fox:

– Paint pinecone orange

– Punch or draw a circle out of orange card stock for head.

– Draw a heart shape for face and glue on head.

– Add eyes, pom pom nose and little orange felt ears.

– Freehand cut a tail and glue on back.

– Glue face on front of pine cone.

For the Owl:

-Paint pinecone blue

– Punch or draw a circle out of blue card stock for head.

– Cut a “mask” shape out of felt for behind the eyes. Glue eyes on.

– Glue on eyes, felt beak and wings

For the Bear:

– Paint pinecone brown

– Punch or draw a circle out of browncard stock for head.

– Cut a circle and ear shapes out of cream felt or canvas for face.

– Glue face together, adding googly eyes and pom pom for nose.

Pilgrim Hat Placeholders

Thanksgiving Pilgrim Hat Placeholders, fun and cute craft for kids from https://yesterdayontuesday.com

Supplies: Small flower pots, chalkboard paint or black acrylic paint. Colorful paint for the hat bands (I used Country Red, Bright Orange, Cabana Blue and Bright Yellow from DecoArt), black scrapbook or contruction paper, yellow scrapbook or construction paper, scissors, craft glue, and a Bistro Chalk Marker, chalk or paint pen in white. You’ll also need a template for the brim of the hat. A large mug will work great. All craft supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Directions:
1. Paint the flower pots with chalkboard paint or black paint and let dry.

2. Trace the top of a wide brimmed coffee mug on black paper and cut out to make hat brim.

3. Paint lower section of flower pots a bright color.

4. Cut small squares of yellow paper. Gently fold in half and cut out a square shape in center to make buckles.

5. Glue brims of hats and buckles on.

6.Write names in chalk or pen.

Turkey Table Runner

Supplies: Burlap table runner, Two sheets of felt in brown, red, yellow, orange, blue and purple. White dimensional (puffy) paint, scissors, googly eye, craft glue. All materials from Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.

Directions

1. Trace your children’s hands to the brown felt and cut out.

2. Cut out five feather shapes from the different colored felt for each turkey AND as many extra feathers as guests at Thanksgiving.

3. Make dashes around the edge of the feathers with white puffy paint. Let dry.

4. Cut red waddles and orange beaks from felt.

5. Glue feathers, eye, beak and waddle on turkeys.

6. Write names on “extra” turkey feathers.

7. Glue turkey and feathers on table runner.

8. If desired, a cut a red heart from felt and write the year on it. Add it to the table runner.
