Secret Sources for Scoring Statement Jewelry
My Secret Sources for Scoring Statement Jewelry
Hi, my name is Malia and I am addicted to {fake} jewelry.
I ‘m not much of a “real” (as in authentic) jewelry girl. It’s not that I don’t like sparkly things. I sure do. It’s that I can’t imagine spending much money on jewelry when there may be braces x 2 in our family’s future, or our IKEA couch (it’s vintage… from the year 2002!) might die one day… or there might be an unexpected event of some sort and we need to be prepared. What I do love and have so much fun with is faux/statement jewelry.
I like wearing necklaces when I do TV segments but I have a couple stipulations. 1. They necklace has to be fun. 2. The necklace has to be CHEAP.
Over the years, I’ve amassed a decent collection. Here are my SECRET Sources!
1. The “Brass Plum” Juniors Department at Nordstrom: This area of the store is meant for teens and tweens but this {ahem} mature woman has found oodles of great items there– especially in the accessories department. You’ll find a great assortment of scarves, hats and bags. PLUS very reasonably priced earrings, bracelets and necklaces.
2. Forever 21: I may be more like “Forever 31” but there are steals and deals to be nabbed at this store. Tons of trendy clothes, bags, shoes{!} and yes, jewelry. You can really stretch your dollar here! The selection can greatly vary, but if you hot F21 on the right day (as in the day the stock the jewelry) you can score all sorts of treasures. Tip: Carefully inspect each piece before you buy, there can be marks/flaws sometimes but Hey… it’s cheap and trendy stuff you can afford!
3. Francesca’s: I like to think of Francesca’s as F21’s slightly older “cool” sister. They have wonderful stuff that’s good quality and reasonably priced. I have found so many great tops there and they tend to be polyester… which is AWESOME– no ironing! This is also a hot spot of affordable and cool jewelry. As a matter of fact, the necklace in the photo above is a Francesca’s score from last weekend (so is the top!) There are sales quite often. In fact I think there’s a BOGO jewelry sale going on right now.
4. Stella & Dot: Hold on now… I know what you’re thinking, “Stella and Dot has beautiful things but they’re also expensive.” Listen, S & D’s products aren’t cheap but they are very well made and stylish. Their pieces tend to be a bit more versatile in terms of style. And… they can be inexpensive. Let me explain. If you have a Stella & Dot stylist that you work with, you’ll receive emails every so often about what they have in stock. When the seasons change, those stylists don’t want to hang on to all the jewelry that they’ve been featuring for the past few months so they’ll mark it down. That’s how I got this fun gum ball necklace for half off!
5. GroopDealz: Oh so many tempting deals here! I once bought 3 of the same necklace (in different colors of course) in about five seconds flat! Groopdealz is a fantastic place to but super trendy jewelry online (and maybe even nab a few extras for gifts). Check the site often to keep tabs on what’s for sale and don’t dilly dally if you see something you like. Things can get sell out fast!
I shop for my jewelry at all the places you mentioned except Nordstrom because we don’t have one close to me. I also love Charming Charlie which always has a sales rack towards the back where you can get adorable earring/necklace sets for $5. With three in college (including myself) and one in braces, I can’t afford to purchase jewelry that’s not on sale :)
I love-love-love to wear colorful jewelry! Thanks so much for awesome places to find great pretties!
My readers would love this! Please share on my Show-Licious Party {we are live now}!
