Great Ideas for the Grad
Graduation is an exciting time for students and their families. Here are some great DIY ideas for the grad, from gift ideas to party decor… there are many thoughtful and festive projects you can do.
Grad Candy Jar
Supplies: Materials: Terra Cotta Flower Pot and saucer, Glass Bowl or Beta Fish Bowl, E-6000 Glue, DecoArt America Acrylic Paint in Ebony, and DuraClear varnish, black pom pom, tassle, yellow Sixlets candy and number stickers. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Step 1: Paint the jar and saucer black (this will take 2-3 coats).
Step 2: Apply a coat of DuraClear varnish.
Step 3: Flip flower pot upside down and glue beta fish bowl to pot.
Step 4: Fill with candy.
Step 5: Glue pom pom and tassle to the (upside down) saucer. Place on top of bowl.
Step 6: Add letter stickers.
Fun Frame for the Grad
Supplies: Wooden 8 x 10 frame, Trendy Tape in Polka Dot Gold, thin tape from Little B, whir wooden letters “2015”, hot glue. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Directions: Using the photo as a guide, made borders with the printed tape. Then, use hot glue to add year.
Temporary Tattoos for the Grad
Supplies: Rubber stamp and ink pad. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Directions: Dip pad in ink and stamp on skin.
Graduate Photo Block
Supplies: Wooden block, large wooden letter, hot glue, acrylic paint in school colors. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Directions: Paint the block and paint the letter in school colors. Glue the letter on the block. Add photos.
School Colors Mason Jar Sip and Drink Lid
Supplies: Mason Jar, vinyl letter and Mason Jar Sip and Drink Lid. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Directions: Remove Mason Jar insert and add sip and drink lid and straw. Add vinyl letter to the front of the jar.
Graduate Photo Wreath
Supplies: Cardboard Wreath, acrylic paint, seven small frames, golf garland, ribbon and hot glue. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Directions
1. Paint wreath form
2. Choose and print seven photos and add to frames
3. Hot glue garland to wreath
4. Hot glue frames to wreath
5. Add bow
Supplies: Wooden Box, gray and crimson acrylic paint, painter’s tape, vinyl letters, 3 red Mason Jars. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames in Redmond.
Steps: Paint the box gray. Tape off stripes and paint paint crimson. Add vinyl letters. Fill Mason Jars with flowers and place inside box.
College Themed Mason Jar Vases
Supplies: Purple Mason Jars and gold letters. All supplies available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frame in Redmond.
Directions: Add letters to Mason Jars and fill with flowers.
