Patriotic Strawberry Skewers and Dip
Strawberry season is here! This is the absolute best time of the year to stock up on delicious strawberries. What you don’t use now, you can freeze for later. Speaking of now, here’s a great strawberry snack you can serve your friends at that 4th of July Party. They will love these Patriotic Strawberry Skewers and Dip.
To create this refreshing snack, you’ll need nice big strawberries. In my opinion, California Giant Strawberries are the best berries. They’re available at Costco and Kroger stores (like QFC and Fred Meyer) here in Washington state. You’ll want to download the iBotta app on your phone to get an exclusive California Giant coupon to use at your local Costco or Fred Meyer.
These gorgeous strawberries taste as good as they look!
Patriotic Strawberry Skewers and Dip
Ingredients: California Giant Strawberries, California Giant Blueberries, a pre-made pound cake, and skewers (these are 8 inches long). You’ll also need a small star cookie cutter.
For the Dip: 1/2 cup of yogurt, 4 tablespoons of honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon.
Grab a strawberry…
And cut off the top and the sides.
Next cut a star shape out, using a small cookie cutter.
Continue until you have the desired number of stars.
I used two per skewer.
Then cut the pound cake into 1 inch thick slices.
Use the cookie cutter to cut stars out of it (you’ll get two stars per slice).
Slide the fruit and pound cake onto the skewer. Repeat until you have the desired number of skewers.
To make the dip, combine one cup of yogurt with 4 tbsp. honey. Sprinkle with ground cinnamon.
These fresh and colorful fruit skewers will be the hit of any 4th of July gathering!
