Millicent and Malia: Recipe Cards Freebie
Hi Friends! I've been going through my grandmother's beautifully beaten up recipe box for this series titled Millicent and Malia. And I've had a lovely light bulb insight: a woman's recipe collection is also her personal journal, written in code. Some of Grandma Millicent's recipes are neatly handwritten on lined cards. Others are scrawled on scraps of paper. There are certain recipes printed on personal stationary and others in unfamiliar cursive… dishes and desserts quickly jotted down from friends. A few recipes are typewritten– with no errors. Even that feels like a marvel to me. If you slow down and… Read More
From Belt to Bracelet
A few months ago I scored a gigantic roll of woven belt material at the thrift store. It cost me $2.99. I was pretty pleased until I thought– What the heck am I going to do with this? Make bracelets. Supplies: Woven belt material, needle and thread, fabric flowers, bracelet end pieces, jewelry clasps, jump rings, buttons, cabochons and strong adhesive like E-6000. Measure the belt material against your wrist, allowing for bracelet clasps on either side. Sew the bracelet and belt material together. Repeat on other side. A blank canvas! Attach jump ring and fastener to one… Read More

Hi Pals! Can you believe it's almost OFFICIALLY summer? When I picture summer in my mind, it's full of lazy days… not making plans… just doing what we feel like when we feel like it. Can you see the imaginary cartoon word bubble over my head? But then… POP! I snap to. And I remember we DO have stuff going on. Good stuff– like vacations, camps and out of town visitors. And being a very visual person… I need to SEE the whole enchilada at one time so I can be organized and make the most of every sweet second…. Read More
