DecoArt supplied the Americana Chalky Finish Paint for this post. I’m part of the DecoArt Blogger Outreach Program.

Mason Jar Menorah

We celebrate Hanukkah and Christmas. I wanted to make something special to celebrate Hanukkah (which starts on December 16th at sundown), using my favorite things: Mason Jars and Americana Decor Chalky Finish paint! Note: If you aren’t familiar with Hanukkah, it’s a Jewish holiday celebrating a great miracle. Here’s a link where you can learn more about Hanukkah.

Supplies: Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Delicate, Escape and Legacy, eight 4 oz (Quarter Pint) Mason Jars, one 8 oz (Half Pint) Mason Jar, paintbrushes, a wax candle, menorah candles and epsom salt.

Step 1: Paint all the jars Delicate and let them dry.

Step 2: Rub a wax candle all over the raised parts of the jar. Dust off any excess candle residue.

Step 3: Dip a dry paint brush in Legacy and drag it over the eight 4 oz jars. Dip a different brush in Escape and brush over the larger 8 oz jar. This will be the jar that holds the Shamash, or lighter candle.

Step 4: Pour Epsom Salt in the jars to keep the candles upright. Add the candles to the 4 oz jars.

Step 5: To make the Shamash stand out, you may want to use a different color candle. I also tied a bow on that candle to signify it’s special.

The contrasting colors of paint add a touch of rustic charm to the menorah.
