How to Get Rid of Fruit Flies
A single fruit fly hitches a ride into your home via the farmer’s market or grocery store and within a few days, it feels like an infestation! I’ve seen all kinds of cute products for sale at the store, promising to bust those little buggers. But why pay when you already have what you need to send those pesky pests packing?
Supplies: small glass jar, plastic wrap. apple cider vinegar, a rubber band and a pencil.
First, fill up the jar about 3/4 with the apple cider vinegar.
Second, pull the plastic wrap tightly over the glass.
Secure with a rubber band (you don’t want those flies escaping!)
Next, using the tip of a pencil, poke about a dozen holes in the plastic wrap. Make sure any fruit or other food is off the counter. Place your jar where you’ve seen some fly action.
This photo was taken exactly ten minutes after I left the jar out on the kitchen counter– it was already attracting all kinds of “customers.” The flies will hang around the outside of the jar and then they’ll burrow in the holes in the plastic wrap– and NEVER come out!
