Valentine Kits
Valentines have come a long way since we parents were in elementary school! Here are a few ideas for classroom valentines that your kiddos would love making. Pictured here: robot valentines, owl valentines and cute critter valentines. All these options are awesome for kids because they put them together! They come in kits for easy assembly.
“Punny” Die Cute Valentines
Another great idea is to use the die cut machine at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames and make puny valentines! For each of these, you need white card stock, colored card stock and use of the die cut machines. There are also classes coming up on February 1st at 6pm and Saturday February 4th at 10 am where you can learn to make 10 of these funny Valentines.
Valentine Box
Many times kids are required to make their own “mailboxes” for their classroom valentines. This kit has everything your child needs to make their own cute mailbox.
Gift Bags
Another idea for kids to collect their valentines is in a gift bag (of course, these gift bags are also great for gift giving).
Supplies: Red gift bag, patterned scrapbook paper, stickers, doily, ribbon baker’s twine.
Directions: Using the photo as a guide, kids can decorate their bags.
Valentine’s Day Kid’s Crafts
Kids “love” getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit with simple craft projects.
“Love” Bugs
Supplies: pom poms (on a string), chenille stems, craft sticks, googly eyes, foam hearts, foam heart stickers, magnets, craft glue.
1. Cut off a strip of six pom poms and glue them to the craft stick.
2. Add googly eyes.
3. Cut two 2″ long pieces of chenille stems and gently bend them into antennae. Glue them on.
4. Glue on foam hear “wings” and add foam heart stickers.
5. Glue magnets on back.
Foam Heart Projects
Supplies: small bag, foam visor and heart stickers.
Kids can decorate the bag and visor with the stickers.
Valentine Gifts Kids Can Make
It’s fun for kids to make gifts for their parents and teachers.
I Heart You Art
Supplies: 8 x 8 shadowbox frame, valentine themed scrapbook paper, wooden letters, white acrylic paint and Glue Dots.
Directions:
1. Cut the scrapbook paper to 8″ x 8″.
2. Paint the letters white.
3. Using Glue Dots, attach letters to paper.
4. Put paper in frame.
Valentine’s Mail Holder
This Valentine’s Mailbox is a thoughtful present idea for your student’s teacher.
Supplies: Wire Holder (it comes attached to the wood!), scrapbook paper, stickers, ribbons and hole punch.
Directions: Cut a strip of scrapbook paper to fit across the basket. Add letter stickers. Punch holes on either side and tie on basket with ribbon.
You & Me Frame
Supplies: Wooden Frame, pink acrylic paint, patterned scrapbook paper, white doily, paper flower stickers, “You & Me” stickers, glue.
Directions:
1. Paint the frame pink.
2. Place the frame on the scrapbook paper and trace it.
3. Glue the paper on the frame.
4. Using the photo as a guide, glue white doily on frame.
5. Add paper flowers.
6. Add “You & Me” stickers.
I Love You Frame
Supplies: small wooden heart frame, I heart you vinyl, scrapbook paper, white acrylic paint, glue.
1. Trace frame on paper and cut out.
2. Paint frame white.
3. Glue paper on frame.
4. Add vinyl.
Wooden “Candy” Box
Supplies: wooden box, various scrapbook paper, heart doily, faux flowers, bronze washi tape, “lovely” sticker and glue.
1. Trace the top and bottom of box. Cut out shapes and glue them on.
2. Using photo as a guide, add washi tape.
3. Glue on doily.
4. Add faux flowers and “Lovely” sticker.
