DIY Faux Jadeite Ornaments

Faux DIY Jadeite Ornaments: How to transform plain clear glass ornaments into gorgeous Faux Jadeite Ornaments for Christmas and the holiday season.

I have been collecting  jadeite (or vintage green milk glass) for more than twenty years. I fell in love with the milky green color and have been smitten ever since.

Over last two decades the price of jadeite has continued to go up while the supply has gone down. It’s become pretty pricey. That’s why I decided to make my own “jadeite” ornaments this year.

Supplies: Clear glass ornaments, gold spray paint (I used Krylon Metallic), Americana Decor acrylic paint in Pistachio Mint, a funnel and if desired, gold letter stickers (these are Thickers from American Crafts).

Step 1: Remove the metal hangers and spray paint them gold.

Step 2: Use a funnel to add paint inside the ornament. Cover the opening with your finger and swirl the paint around until the inside of the ornament is covered. Let it dry. Replace the hanger.

Don’t you love the color? You can leave the ornaments like this, or add a monogram.

Step 3: Add a monogram sticker if you’d like.

Hi Debra! I love connecting with fellow jadeite fans. Maybe we should plan some sort of Jadeite blog event in 2015! Happy Holidays and thanks for your kind comment.

I have been wanting to start a collection – but then fight the urge to use it as props. I only have a couple pieces now- but would so love some more. Can’t get enough of that color.

Malia, I cannot even express how much I adore these! They look vintage! I’m a milk glass Junkie and bought my first Jadeite pieces this summer, salt and pepper shakers. The color is so perfect! Pinned.
