I first fell in love with Jadeite (or Jadite) in high school. Something about the milky green color was beguiling to me. By the time I went to college in a small town in eastern Washington State, my obsession with Jadeite was in full swing. I used to scour the second hand and antique stores and many times I’d score!

By the way, the name Jadeite (or Jadite) refers to milky green glass that was made in the 1940’s through the 1950’s. Many restaurants used these dishes and pieces were even given away in cereal boxes. Oh… what I wouldn’t do for a few of those old cereal boxes with Jadeite. That’s my kind of prize!

Many different companies, including Fire-King (made my Anchor Hocking) and McKee manufactured Jadeite, the end result being that there are many different lovely shades. While these pieces used to be very inexpensive, they have become quite costly over the years and sadly, tough to find. I have a beautiful miss mash collection of plates, bowls, mugs and more that I love using for special occasions. Many have been gifts, making them even more meaningful. You can still enjoy the look of Jadeite without breaking the bank… you can DIY it!

    1. Thanks Keri. You’re lucky I live a few states away, or else I’d stop by and eat up all those raspberry sweet rolls! So pretty too!

    1. I did three coats and so far so good with the chipping but yes if I had sealer I would do a coat just to be safe. Thanks for stopping by, great to connect with a fellow Seattleite!
