The XY Find It is a loss prevention device that helps you keep tabs on your stuff. This cool tool is a beacon that broadcasts Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 signals. With the XY Find It, if you lose something, you can track when and where you last had it– very helpful!

The XY Find It works with dozens of mobile devices and it’s easy to download the app through the Apple Store or Google Play. To get started, just download the app.

Then open the box…

And use a screwdriver to pop the device open and remove the plastic tag.

Next hold the beacon close to the phone (make sure the Bluetooth is on) and you’ll see the beacon register in the app.

Now that my XY Find It was ready to go, I put it one of my most treasured belongings… my dog Sophie! I snapped a photo of her via the app, and then… I wanted to test the beacon out. By the way, you can also mark and item as “lost” within the app and anytime the beacon is recognized by the XY app from any device, the location of your item will be plotted to your map to help you find it.

Indoors the beacon has a range of about 150 feet. I tried tracking Sophie’s whereabouts using the phone from inside the house.

The “Find” function with the app actually makes an alarm sound in the beacon so you can find what you’re looking for. The app even showed me a map of where Sophie was, including a photo of my house! Pretty cool. If an item with the XY beacon in “Alert” mode goes beyond range from your device, a “lost notification” is pushed to your device.

Found her! Also of note, especially if you are thinking of using this device to track your pet, is that it’s water resistant. That means don’t submerge in it water(!) but for more activities it will be fine. The XY Find it also comes in a ton of colors and it’s powered by an affordable, replaceable battery that lasts 3-6 months.
