Thrifty Finds Tuesday: Art I Heart

I love looking at artwork at thrift shops, garage sales and antique shops.  So much of it seems to have been created by woman for their friends, which makes it extra special. I'm always amazed at how much artistic talent is and was out there.  Here are a few of my favorites:

This was one of my first art/garage sale buys back in 1987!  I got it for my Dad but I think I loved it more so it's been living with me for the past dozen years.  I had it reframed and found a handwritten note inside which reads: "Merry Christmas Rose – 1955  An autographed original Catherine Simpson."

I have this in my kitchen to provide guidance when I'm cooking about which herbs to pair with our meals. It has a sweet prayer in the bottom right corner:

A Prayer

Give me a good digestion Lord, And also something to digest:

But when and how that something comes

I leave to thee, who knowest best.
