Millicent and Malia: Molasses Spice Cookies
I've got a delicious fall-ish recipe for you: Molasses Spice Cookies.
Give me these cookies and a cup of good coffee and I'm in heaven! This is just one of my Grandma Millicent's recipes that I've been savoring (literally) as I go through her collection.
Ingredients
3/4 cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
3 tablespoons molasses
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon soda
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1/4 teaspoon salt
Directions
Blend shortening with sugar and add egg and molasses.
Add dry ingredients and mix well.
Chill dough for 1 hour.
Form into balls about 3/4 inch in diameter.
Roll in a cinnamon-sugar mixture (1/3 cup sugar with 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon)
Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. Do not overbake.
Cookie should be soft in the center when removed from oven.
Wishing you a sweet day!
