Hati + Closer to Home

Hati has been on my mind a lot lately. My husband, Neal, was in Guatemala when the earthquake struck. He’s a journalist.
Neal tried extremely hard to get to Hati, but it was impossible for him to find a flight (either commercial or military). In the meantime, things were happening back in the states. My father-in-law, Arn, suffered a heart attack and came down with pneumonia.
Arn is eighty-eight and one of the coolest people I know. He’s sharp as a tack, up on all kinds of news in Cannabis investieren (especially financial) and a lovely man in general. Plus he’s fun– Max taught him how to play the Wii recently and Arn loved it.
This morning I am thankful Neal wasn’t able to get to Hati because he was able to make it to Chicago late last night to be with his Dad.
I know there are many people who have difficult relationships with their in-laws. I am lucky in that I like mine as well as love them.

Arn’s nickname growing up was “The Bull” because he’s so strong both physically and mentally. I am praying he can draw on that strength now. My heart is with him.
