  1. My husband’s family is large!! To date, when everyone is present, one meal is 50 people {his parents, sibs, spouses & kids}. Before the meal everyone shares what they are thankful for : )

  2. my favorite was when i had t-giving and my sons were home and my parents would come for the day but life has changed and now my hubby and i spend the day at his sisters.

  3. My favorite Thanksgiving traditions are all the family dishes that have been made lovingly for years and passed down through the generations! I can’t wait to make my Grandma’s recipes for the first time this year as I’M hosting!

  4. My favorite tradition is making peanut butter stuffed celery.
No one but me and a my cousin eats it, but we make it every year because of my grandmother. She would mix the peanut butter with honey and spread it in the celery. She’s been gone 11 years, but we continue to do it because it wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without it.

  5. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is cooking all the neat different dishes that we don’t have all year. And using my Mom’s crystal goblets at the dinner table. I love CSN and your blog. Thanks, Lynn

  6. A few of my favorites..collecting Fall leaves with the family, setting the table with the kids with the party dishes, then resting from the overfeasting :)

  7. My favorite tradition is getting the christmas tree LOL. No I’m not confused, I’m always trying to convince my hubby that someone will be around to sell us a tree on thanksgiving!

  8. I love turkey and putting up the tree and the sales sales sales. Thanksgiving is becoming one of my favorite holidays.

  9. We sing the prayer. I can never remember how it goes until it starts – something like “we fold our hands, we bow our heads, to celebrate this great bread.” I love that.

  10. My husband’s family has their family reunion on Thanksgiving. It’s the best tradition! I love all the food, watching the kids play together and tossing the football around. My family basically consists of my mom, my sister and me so I really appreciate the notion of a large family.

  11. I think cooking the turkey is my favorite thanksgiving tradition though this year will be our first thankful tree so that might just surpass it.

  12. Thanks for the follow – am following you back now! Great site
My tradition is totally silly, but now that both of my grandparents are deceased it is even more meaningful. My grandmother had these old timey napkin rings – wooden that would fit perfectly on your eye and look like glasses without frame or a black eye, after you were done with your meal you had to put the napkin ring on your eye to signal you were done. I have NO idea how it started, but we have been doing it for years. My grandparents would even get in on the act at 80+ :) My mom kept the rings from cleaning out their house this year, so the tradition can continue!

  13. We all have a pumpkin pie contest. We make our own special one in a mini dish and we have tasting each other’s! :)

  17. My new favorite Thanksgiving tradition (as of one year ago) is eating pumpkin cheesecake for dessert instead of pumpkin pie. It was so scrumptious, I don’t think I’ll ever go back to pie!!! :)

  18. Our favorite tradition is the older girls/wives always help my mother make her homemade butter flake dinner rolls (from scratch). It happens every year and it is definitely worth all the hard work- plus we all have the recipe memorized in our heads.

  19. My favorite Thanksgiving tradition is the turkey dinner! When I first met my BF, I was having Thanksgiving with my parents and other relatives. I hadn’t known him long enough to invite him along, but felt bad that he’d be alone on Thanksgiving. Instead of him making a TV dinner and sitting in front of the TV moping like I thought he’d do, he made a full turkey dinner with all of the trimmings just for himself and enjoyed himself! That impressed me so much, and reminded me that attitude is everything! There was one Thanksgiving since then that we couldn’t get to my family and he made the whole turkey dinner just for the two of us, it was great!

  20. My favorite Thanksgiving holiday tradition is making my great grandmothers cornbread stuffing. 22. My husband’s family has a wonderful Thanksgiving tradition. On Thanksgiving night, everyone in the family, young or old, stands up to speak about the things they are thankful for. Sometimes there are tears and it most always lasts for over an hour and a half. It’s a beautiful, touching tradition.

  23. We have no family in the area, so Thanksgiving is big some years when travel is involved and not so much others. But recently, my church has been hosting a friends thanksgiving. It is awesome. So casual. Everyone brings something and we all hang out and eat. Then you take your one dish home and wash it-one dish! The best of both worlds!

  24. Thanksgiving, we invite friends for a potluck dinner. Each one brings their special dish and/or wine and we also prepare 2-3 of our own special dishes. After dinner, we play card games, have pumpkin pie, watch a movie and enjoy wine.
