One Painted Flower Pot: Three Super Summer Hacks

A jumbo-sized flower pot– you can find them at home and garden stores.  White this pot may look sort of plain and boring, it has SO MUCH potential. With a couple coats of chalkboard paint, you can create a cute kid’s table, a cooler for keeping drinks cold, and an even umbrella stand!

Supplies: A large terracotta pot (this one measures 14.96-in H x 18.503-in W x 18.5-in D), a large terracotta saucer (this one measures 15.75-in D), chalkboard paint, a paintbrush and chalk.

Step 1: Flip the pot over and give it two coats of paint (letting it dry for 24 hours between coats).

Step 2: Repeat with the saucer.

Step 3: Draw all over the pot with chalk and wipe it off. This “seasons” the chalkboard surface so you can draw on it.

Step 4: Draw a fun picture. This is also a great activity for kids. Give them some colored chalk and let their imaginations run wild. Note: This could potentially keep children busy for hours. And during the long days of summer, that can be a very good thing.

Step 5: Place the saucer on top of the pot, making it into a table. You can also write on top of the saucer.

Add a couple of chairs and it makes a cute seating area for the kids.

 If you’re hosting a summer barbecue or get together, the flower pot also make a great cooler.

Just fill it up with ice, add some beverages and let your guests help themselves.

And if you’re craving a cozy little spot out of the sun when the weather is hot, you can also use the flower pot as an umbrella stand.

Simply turn the flower pot upside down and pop the umbrella in.
