5 Ways to Encourage Your Kids to Get Filthy (and Why it’s Not a Problem)

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Maytag for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

Kids get filthy but Maytag's dependable washer and dryer units can handle dirt and messes. #MyFilthiestPlay #spon

If you have kids like me, I’d bet you’re no stranger to filth! You know– dirt, muck, grime, sludge, slime and ooze? It’s sort of part of the package when you have kiddos. My son likes playing sports and getting filthy is just part of the deal.

Here he is with his coach and the end of a basketball game, sporting some good sweat/slime/ooze.

And here he is with some good old soccer filth. He’s got some good sludge going here. Not looking real happy in this photo!

Sometimes the filth is totally intentional– like last Halloween when he decided to dress up like a zombie and smeared dirt (and who knows what else) all over himself.

And before you start thinking his little sister is “cleaner”… check out this photo. Rolling around in decomposing leaves is a great way to get filthy!

As a matter of fact, Maytag has teamed up with MLB to ask fans to submit their own “dirty plays” with an exciting new contest!

Filthiest Plays of the Week

Kicking off on August 3rd and running for six weeks, ball players of any and all level can share their “filthy play” with the hashtag #MyFilthiestPlay (either with a photo or a video) to win weekly prizes and a get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go to the World Series, PLUS snag a Maytag Top Load Washer and Dryer Pair! Visit Filthiest Plays of the Week for more info.

Let’s face it– sliding, diving and other “filthy” plays are some of the coolest and most exciting parts of baseball. Maytag washes and dryers are equipped to handle the absolute dirtiest baseball stains!

Getting filthy is a natural part of baseball and of childhood. Here are some deliciously dirty ways kids can get filthy this summer.

5 Ways to Encourage Your Kids to Get Filthy this Summer

1. Go to the beach and play in the sand… with clothes on instead of a bathing suit.

2. Run through the sprinklers (don’t worry about it when the ground gets all muddy… that’s part of the fun)!

3. Take a “hike” through the woods and collect a ton of natural treasures.

4. Go out for ice cream, get a double scoop and when the clerk asks how many napkins say “NONE, thank you.”

5. Hop on your bikes and pedal around the neighborhood park. Be sure to go through as much freshly cut grass as possible.

Go on– have fun and get filthy… Maytag has got you covered!

You totally crack me up!! I don’t mind doing laundry…the taking it out of the washer and into the dryer and folding part. But… touching all that YUCK!? It’s just gross. ;) I cannot wash my hands quick enough… with sweet smelling soap too! LOL

Recently I read an article that it’s beneficial for kids to get dirty from a health standpoint too. I guess it strengthens their immune system. Who knew!!

Ha! I love your 5 tips. I agree that napkin-less ice cream is crazy dangerous, though! It’s not the clothes I’m worried about as much as my walls getting touched by sticky hands. Maybe I just need to combine the ice cream and sprinkler running together.

Getting dirty was one of my favorite parts of being a child – and my brothers too! Love this :D
