Spooky Cheesecloth Ghost

{Spooky Cheesecloth Ghost}

Earlier this week, I shared 7 Simple Halloween Decor Ideas, including this Spooky Cheesecloth Ghost. Now, I’d like to give you a full tutorial for this project and show you some photos along with the instructions…  to make creating your own ghost even easier.

Halloween Crafts

This is a classic craft and one that is perfect for your little ghosties and ghoulies!

Halloween Crafts

Materials: Cheesecloth, Plaid “Stiffy” Fabric Stiffener, styrofoam balls, wood dowels, large empty soda bottle, bowl, craft glue, scissors, googly eyes, wire or cardboard paper towel holder covered in plastic wrap. I’d also grab an old towel to protect your work surface. All craft materials available at Ben Franklin Crafts and Frames.

Put the dowel into the styrofoam ball.

Put the ball and dowel into the plastic bottle (to give it support).

Use wire OR a cardboard paper towel holder covered in plastic wrap to make arms. I found the paper towel holder worked well for this size ghost. Squeeze the Stiffy into a bowl and saturate a piece of cheesecloth.

Halloween Crafts

Place the bottle etc on a towel to catch drips. Layer a few pieces of the wet cheesecloth over the bottle/ball/dowel and shape to your liking.

Halloween Crafts

Let it dry overnight… cool huh? The Stiffy makes the fabric super stiff.

Halloween Crafts

 Add googly eyes with glue.

Halloween Crafts

Enjoy your ghost! You can easily hang it with fishing line, yarn or thread. Or just let it “sit” there.

Cute, right? Happy Ghost Making!

Sharing at some of these fun parties.

  1. If it rains while the ghost is hung up outside will it cause damage? I just don’t want it to loose its shape. Have you had to deal with this yet? Thanks ! Def want to make one with my little sister in law!
