Egg Carton Easter Chicks
Egg Carton Easter Chicks
I love crafting with kids, especially when I get to upcycle something bound for the trash like an egg carton. My 10 year old had a blast making these little cuties and she loved the fact there was an hidden treasure inside.
These critters are fun for Easter or any time.
Supplies: an egg carton (mine is from Smith Brothers Farms… we already enjoyed all the fresh eggs!), yellow acrylic paint, yellow washi tape, googly eyes, orange felt, feathers, craft glue and scissors. Small treats like jelly beans are also a sweet touch.
First, kids can cut the carton apart.
They just need the egg cup parts.
(Each chicks takes two egg cups).
Then kids paint the cups yellow.
And add a piece of washi tape to two stacked cups.
A dab of craft glue keeps the eyes in place.
And the kiddos can cut a triangle of felt for the beak and glue in to the top cup.
Then glue a feather to either side of the chick.
Finally the super fun part… fill the chick up with candy.
This kid’s project is part of the Craft Lightning Busy Bag series. Be sure to visit Glued to My Crafts, The County Chic Cottage and 30 Minute Crafts to see loads of kid-friendly ideas… each craft should keep kids busy for 15 minutes! It’s a goldmine for busy parents.
