Iris Apfel…

Has been featured in Vogue

Calls herself a geriatric starlet

Refuses to pay more than $15 for a pair of jeans

"I'm a hopeless romantic. I buy things because I fall in love with them. I never buy anything just because it's valuable. My husband used to say I look at a piece of fabric and listen to the threads. It tells me a story. It sings me a song. I have to get a physical reaction when I buy something. A coup de foudre – a bolt of lightning. It's fun to get knocked out that way!"

  1. Oh what fun. Wonder what I will be like that at that age? I do oh so like her glasses. Malia, btw Carrie will be here the first or second week in December. The Upfront Art Gallery in Issaquah just moved and I want to check it out. We could visit that and do coffee in Gilman Village too. I will let you know…

  2. I love Iris Apfel. I have seen her on some shows & it was amazing to see some of her collection of clothes from the exhibit. In my mind I am like her but in reality I am a tee shirt, scarf around my neck, jeans & paintbrush in my hand girl. I love her quote.
Thanks for the lovely post~ Theresa
