From Candle Jar to Candy Jar
From Candle Jar to Candy Jar
I get a kick out of upcycling– finding new ways to use things bound for the recycling bin or trash can. I have been saving my used glass jar candles for some time. Even after the candles are past their prime (and down to an inch of melted wax), I find the jars to pretty. It would be a waste to get rid of them just because the candle wasn’t working anymore.
Through trial and error, I discovered The Easiest Way to Remove Wax from a Glass Jar Candle. Now I’m almost looking forward to when my candles burn out so I can do more! Yes I am a total dork. So first, you’ll want to check out my post for getting rid of that wax, those wicks and those labels.
Once that part is done, all you need is some candy or sweet treats, some ribbon and my Snowflake Tags printable (if you like).
1. Download, print and cut out the Snowflake Tags.
2. Punch a hold in them and attach them to the jar with ribbon.
3. Fill will treats! Now they’re perfect for re-gifting. They make awesome presents for friends, teachers, neighbors, co-workers… pretty much anyone!
Fun… Now I REALLY can’t wait until these 3-wick candles go on sale again!
love the idea and have done this for years to store change etc in. But edibles?? How do you get the scent out of the jar? I’ve noticed every time I open my saved candle/jar it still has the scent of the candle. I have even ran mine through the dishwasher & still scented. Love your posts !!

Hi Mary! Thanks for your comment. I find that a quick wipe with rubbing alcohol (and then rinse after it dries) takes care of any odor.
I love this idea! I have some similar candle jars that I can repurpose. Thank you for the printables Maila!

Thanks Raquel I would love to see your project when you’re done!
How to you get the candle scent from the jar? I’ve tried this once and my m&m’s tasted funny, like the scent the candle was.
Hi Amy! Rubbing alcohol on the glass (then rinse it after) has worked for me.
Thanks so much! Can’t wait to try this again.
Thanks for sharing the printable tags for this Malia. These turned out so great!
Have a great day :)
