Eek! Newspaper Wreath

What's black and white and perfect wreath material?

Wreath1
Newspaper!

Supplies:  A 24 inch styrofoam wreath, newspaper, scissors, pinking shears, a ruler or paper trimmer, thin floral wire glue gun.  Optional: Spider Webbing (I picked some up at Dollar Tree) and a Halloween sign or letters.  I used a $1.00 EEK sign from Target.

Step One:  Cut or trim 50 stacks of 4 x 4 inch newspaper squares (three squares in each stack).  You are basically going to create fifty flowers from newspaper and wire.

Step 2:  Fold each stack into accordions, each fold about at 1/2 inch.  Trim two sides with pinking shears.

Step 3:  Fold up the accordion and secure in the center with a piece of wire

Step 4:  Spread the folds gently

Gently pull the layers up and apart

This is what the "flower" looks like at this point

To make the streamers, grab a sheet of newspaper.  Fold 3/4 inch accordion folds.

Wreath11
Cut into 1 1/2 inch long strips

Here's an accordion strip.  I also cut three 1 1/2 long strips to make a faux "bow"

  Wreath13

Use the hot glue gun to put the flowers on the wreath.  Start on the inside, then the middle and the exterior layer.  Attach bow and streamers with glue gun also.

Wreath14
I wanted to spookify this project a little

I added some spider webbing and nestled an "EEK!" sign from Target inside

Here's the finished product.
